On Tuesday, January 16, at 9:30 am, the prelude to the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will commence. The “Pran Pratishtha” (consecration ritual) will be organised on January 22 and it will begin at 12:20 pm.
A new idol of Ram Lalla has been carved by Arun Yogiraj of Mysuru. It has been selected for installation in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra temple. Champat Rai, the general secretary of the temple trust, made the announcement.
On January 18, the idol will be placed at its ‘aasan’ in ‘garbh griha’ (sanctum sanctorum), as mentioned by Rai. Rai stated that the idol represents the deity as a five-year-old kid in a standing posture. According to him, the new stone idol weighs between 150 and 200 kilogrammes. A consecration ceremony will be held for the idol, adding significance to its placement in the sanctum sanctorum.
