US Homeland Security officials searched two of the rapper’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami because he is being accused of many things, according to Andrea Cavallier.
Sean “Diddy” Combs is a rapper and music mogul who is accused of sex trafficking, sexual abuse, and rape in several civil cases. He is credited with helping some of the biggest stars of recent years get their start in the music business.
Since the beginning of his career, Combs has gone by many different names, including Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, and many others. He has now entered a new and unpleasant “age.”
On March 25, federal officials from US Homeland Security searched two of the rapper’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami. He is being charged with a number of different crimes.
Combs, who is 54 years old, has strongly rejected all the charges against him. The lawsuits and the claims against him have been called “baseless” or “sickening” by his lawyers.
The entertainer has not been officially charged with a crime by federal authorities.
Recently, Combs’ ex-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura sued him in November. Now, she has filed two more cases against him. She said he raped her in 2018, beat her, made her carry a gun to “make her uncomfortable and show how dangerous he is,” and forced her to have “unwanted sexual meetings with male sex workers.”
The case that Ms. Ventura filed against Combs was settled the next day for an amount of money that was not made public.
Many of the claims made against Combs in cases go back to the 1990s, when he started his own record label called Bad Boy Records.
All the claims made against Sean “Diddy” Combs:
The rapper was first sued on November 16, 2023, by Cassie, a singer and dancer who used to be with him and said he abused her for years.
It was brought under the New York Adult Survivors Act, which was about to end. This law gave adult victims of sexual assault a year to file civil claims, even if the statute of limitations had already run.
Cassie Ventura’s sister, Casandra
Cassandra Ventura, better known as the R&B singer Cassie, sued Combs in 2023, saying that she sold, raped, and beat her many times over 10 years.
In her case, she said that Combs brought the singer into his “ostentatious, fast-paced, and drug-fueled lifestyle” soon after they met. She also said that Combs signed her to his label when she was 19 and he was 37, in 2005.
At the start of their relationship, Ms. Ventura said, he started abusing her, and when she tried to end it in 2018, he broke into her Los Angeles home and raped her.
CCTV video retrieved by CNN on May 17 showed an event that seemed to back up some of Ms. Ventura’s original complaints. According to the March 2016 video, Combs chased her down the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel and punched and kicked her outside of some elevators.
The lawsuit said that the fight happened “around March 2016” and that Combs “became extremely drunk and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye.”
Combs left Ms. Ventura, then came back and pushed her into a corner, as seen on surveillance video. Then she saw him throw something at her, which was also mentioned in her report.
The case against Combs was settled the next day for an amount of money that was not made public.
Combs’ lawyer said the settlement was “in no way an admission of wrongdoing” and did not change his denial of the accusations. Ms. Ventura told CNN that she had decided to “resolve this matter amicably.”
The New York Adult Survivors Act (ASA) let her bring her charges against Combs, but it ran out at midnight on November 23, 2023.
The act gave survivors one year to file a civil lawsuit, no matter when the abuse happened. This meant that cases from decades ago were finally brought to light.
A lot of cases were made under the ASA before it ended at midnight on November 23, 2023. Court records sent to The Independent show that this happened.
Some of the most powerful men in the state were sued by survivors. These men included Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein, Axl Rose, and Combs, all of whom are well-known in the entertainment industry.
Roger “Lil Rod” Jones
Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, a producer, sued Combs in New York on February 26, 2024, saying that he was “subjected to unwanted advances by associates of Diddy at his order” and that he was forced to have sex with the sex workers Combs had hired.
Combs hired the producer in September 2022 and fired him in November 2023. The producer said that Combs drugged, bullied, and threatened him for more than a year.
He said he has audio and video proof that Combs, his staff, and other people were “doing major illegal activity.” The case named Daphne Joy, who used to be 50 Cent’s girlfriend and is the mother of one of his children, as one of the sex workers.
The lawsuit also says that Combs often held “sex-trafficking parties” with underage women and illegal drugs. It also says that record company executives who did nothing helped themselves financially by having access to famous people and dignitaries, such as Prince Harry of Wales.
Prince Harry has not been charged with any crimes and has been seen at parties.
The lawyer for Combs told The Los Angeles Times that the case includes “reckless name-dropping about events that are pure fiction and simply did not” happen.
Ryan Mendelsohn, 20, who used to live in the area where Combs’ Los Angeles home was checked, told reporters that he would see women outside until 6 a.m. and parties going on inside the house, which was not normal.
“That is something I see a lot—a lot of girls—maybe five or six girls outside, some leaving, some not, and some going in,” he told NBC News.
Mr. Mendelsohn said, “I never thought anything of it.” He also said that he did not know Combs lived there until Monday, when the news came out. “But now it is crazy.”
